Married for 19 years, with four grown children and four grandchildren, Darrell is an enthusiastic leader of his family. Darrell and Ginger are approaching their 20th wedding anniversary, and have lived in TX 32 for their entire marriage. They have attended Fellowship Dallas Church of Dallas for 7 years, and have been active in small-group Bible studies.
Darrell’s hobby is playing sand volleyball, and watching the Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks. His hobbies previously included a mediocre career in tournament chess and then tournament Scrabble, getting inducted into the Texas Scrabble Hall of Fame in 2014.
Formerly a journalist, Darrell was a Bureau Chief for United Press International, once writing a feature published in the New York Times. He later served as Editor of “Facilities” Magazine and Editor of the Dallas architecture magazine “Columns.”
Seeing the rapid decline in the professionalism of U.S. journalism – long before we’d heard the term “fake news” – Darrell left journalism in 1998 and founded an executive search firm. During 23 years in business, he led the firm to a position of expertise in the field of architecture hiring. As a small-business owner, Darrell has seen the impact of government COVID lockdowns.
During 23 years in business, his clients have lauded his business acumen and professionalism. Among the dozens of recommendations, Marcela Abadi Rhodes, FAIA, said: “I’ve known Darrell for many years because of his involvement and support of the American Institute of Architects. Because he is so involved with the AIA and the architectural community, he is very well connected.”
